Fullerton
Titans defeated
the Golden Retrievers by the score of 2 to 1 at Forbes
Field.
Fullerton scored
2 runs in the decisive 3rd inning. Lonny
Frey started the
inning off right
when he drew a walk. Chet Laabs was next and he laid down a
sacrifice
bunt. Dimaggio
then bombed a two-run dinger. That was
all the
runs Mort Cooper(1-0) needed.
Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 3rd
inning with no
runs scored after that point.
Jumbo Brown
preserved the game for Cooper, recording his his 2nd
save.
Thornton Lee(0-2) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 8 hits and 1 walk in 6
innings.
