Retrievers nipped the Missouri Bombers 2 to 1 at Comiskey Park in a
hard fought
contest.
The deciding run
was scored by Golden in the 9th. After an out was recorded,
Joe Kuhel stroked
a base-hit. Dixie Walker next to the
plate and he hit a
single. One out later, Floyd Baker then lashed a
single scoring the run.
Missouri went
down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.
Alex Carrasquel(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2
innings and
allowing no runs.
The losing pitcher was Roger Wolff(0-1). He surrendered 2
runs and 5 hits
