Sam Mele had 2
base hits at Sportsman's Park as the Cape Canaveral Rockets
pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the Delaware Destroyers. by the count
of 6 to 5.
Cape Canaveral
came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Charlie Keller
led off and he lined a
base-hit. Two outs later Eddie Kazak came up and he
smashed a two-run homer
resulting in an
exciting win for Cape Canaveral and a raucous post-game
celebration by
the home town fans. Cape Canaveral
managed 7 hits in their
victory.
The victory went
to Al Widmar(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no
runs. Mickey Harris(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. 'We just wouldn't
give up,' Mele
said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us
the whole way.'
