TEAM RISP- Dukes:
3 for 14 Titans:
1 for 5
In a game for the
baseball purist, Jesse Flores(1-0) and Johnny Niggeling(0-1)
squared off in a
tense pitching duel, Amboy Dukes finally emerged victorious
over Fullerton
Titans, 2 to 0.
Amboy came up
with 2 runs in the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits. After an
out was recorded,
Ray Sanders initiated the scoring spurt when he smacked a
single. Sanders took off for second and slid in with
a stolen base. Ray
Mueller then drew
a walk. One out later, Flores came to
the plate and
stroked a
base-hit plating a run. Stan Hack came
up to bat and ripped a
one-base hit
scoring the final run of the inning.
That was all Flores
needed. After the 2nd inning, neither team was able
to score.
Flores got relief
help from Joe Berry who gained credit for his 2nd save.
