Third baseman Buddy Lewis blasted a homerun as the New England Lime Sox beat
the Chesterfield Chips by a score of 6 to 3.
New England came up with 3 runs in the 2nd inning when they had 3 base hits.
The key at-bat was by Charlie Gelbert who deflated the crowd as he cracked a
two-run shot.  Tommy Bridges(1-0) got help from Atley Donald who pitched
great and earned his 1st save. 
Bob Feller(0-1) suffered the loss.  He was knocked around by New England,
allowing 11 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings.

Right fielder Ted Williams hit one over the fence and Bob Bowman completed the
game without help from the bullpen as the New England Lime Sox defeated the
Chesterfield Chips by a score of 6 to 1 at Fenway Park.
Bowman(1-0) pitched a solid game. He went 9 innings allowing 5 hits and 8
walks. New England totaled 9 hits on the afternoon. The loss was charged to
Mel Harder(0-1).

Willard Hershberger hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Sportsman’S Park where the
New England Lime Sox beat the Chesterfield Chips in 10 innings by the score
of 7 to 6.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. New England was
victorious in the 10th inning. New England had 9 hits for the afternoon.
The win was credited to Atley Donald(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Jack Russell(0-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no
walks without retiring a batter.

Bob Feller pitched a complete game at Sportsman’S Park where the Chesterfield
Chips beat the New England Lime Sox by the score of 6 to 2.
Feller(1-1) was solid in the win. He allowed just 6 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings lowering his ERA from 6.43 to 3.94. Chesterfield totaled 10 hits on
the afternoon.
Junior Thompson(0-1) was the loser. Chesterfield knocked him around a bit, as
he gave up 6 runs in 5 innings.

Tommy Bridges had a complete game as the New England Lime Sox bested the
Chesterfield Chips 6 to 2 at Sportsman’S Park.
New England scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning when they had 4 base hits. That
early scoring was all that Bridges(2-0) needed. New England had a total of 9
hits for the game.
Mel Harder(0-2) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 4 runs and 7 hits in 6
innings.
