In a close game the Suwanee Manatees got by the Kansas City A’s by the score

of 4 to 2.

 

Suwanee erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on

2 base hits.  Red Schoendienst got things going when he lined a single.  Al

Smith stepped up to the plate and he laced a single.  Al Rosen then drew a

walk to load the bases.  Jerry Snyder followed and he hit a sacrifice fly

plating a run.  Andy Pafko came up to bat and worked the squeeze play to

perfection scoring the final run of the inning.  Suwanee rapped out 8 hits

for the night. 

 

The winning pitcher was Ray Narleski(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3

innings. Bob G Miller got the save, his 2nd.  Arnie Portocarrero(0-1) was

tagged with the loss.  He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.
