Gerry Staley delivered 9 solid innings as the Suwanee Manatees man-handled the

Savanna Rebels – the final score was 12 to 1.

Eddie Robinson was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he

provided much of the offense for the visitors.  He depressed the partisan

hometown fans with a grand slam home run in the 5th inning, ripped a base-hit

which scored a run in the 6th inning and laced a base-knock in the 8th

inning.  Suwanee simply wore out the Savanna pitching staff, scoring in 6

different innings.

The victory went to Staley(1-0) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Murry

Dickson(0-1) was the losing pitcher.  He was touched for 15 hits and 10 walks

in 9 innings.

Gordon Renaud lamented, ‘Staley was really aggressive tonight.  He kept coming

after our hitters.  Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after

another – like so many bowling pins!’
